Update (9/8): The chair, dryer and microwave have been sold. Our kitchen is mostly packed and sent off into storage. This week I plan on packing the upstairs- offseason clothes, accessories, closets. What a process! We are living off of paper plates and plastic silverware and my house is a mess! I never thought I’d have the urge to just throw everything out. I am sure in the mood to! Only a week an a half until m-day…This weekend we headed on south again to have our house inspection. It went well, with very few things to be discussed. Spending time in the house opened up a huge batch of emotions for me- elevated by the fact that I was coming down with a bug (spent last night with a fever of 101 and a sore throat) and a lack of sleep. I love the house. It is cozy, comfortable, and very much us. The kitchen is fantastic and there’s so much potential. Now, where will we put our furniture? One of the downfalls with downsizing (which we did after M was born-by about 1000 sq feet, I think) is trying to fit today’s oversized furniture into a vintage house. We’re selling a bunch of stuff- listed at nathanswart.com– and just trying to be sensible. Perhaps this fresh start is just what we need to be more settled and less stressed.I spent the drive and a good part of Monday night during a Labor Day party working on the first stripey sock. I finished one, and the second is coming along so well. Fun colors, eh? Of course, you can never have a project go completely smoothly. I ran out of my first skein on the way home and when I joined in the second skein I noticed that the dye lots were different (although they were marked the same). I don’t think it’s really so different that anyone would notice without significant scrutiny, but I see it. The close up shows the color change if you look closely, but it is a little fuzzy. If you can’t see it, then I’m good to go! Nonetheless, I got almost to the heel flap last night and am hoping to have this one finished by the end of the week. I know I should be packing, but I think that recovering from this bug is priority. Knit today, pack tomorrow!
