I started these socks as a mindless project to bring with me during labor. Turns out that labor wasn’t so mindless (sorry- haven’t posted the birth story yet- let me know if you want to hear it!) and we had some complications during the induction. The last part of dilation was also really fast (5cm in a half hour), so there was no time, let alone desire, to knit. I did some work on the first sock a day or so later during some down time, but I was more interested in resting wile I could. So, here we are, almost six weeks later and I have a finished pair. They are not quite what I had pictured when I bought the colorway, but they are VERY soft and slippery. I have to be careful walking around on my hardwoods…
I had hoped for more purple than yellow, but they sure are cheery!
Project specs: Basic sock pattern by Deirdre Wallace (through Ann Norling). I used bamboo DPN’s in size 2 and Wisdom Yarns Marathon-New York yarn. It’s a wool/polymide blend in color 221.
I also frogged a pair of Dublin Bay socks last night. I loved the pattern, but the yarn was too busy to see it and they were too big. So, one sock gone.
See- there is lace work on the leg. Not visible at all. Oh, well. So now I am off to get some new needles for a glove project (I seem to have lost my #4 and 5 DPN’s) and I’m going to try to reproduce a baby sweater for B. There’s always something to do!!
