Funnies

Every now and then I find that my kids have a bunch of odd things they say that just make me smile.  This post is mainly for me so I don’t forget them, but maybe you’ll enjoy them, too.

Finding Waldoo- This is what the kids call Where’s Waldo.  We have a real book, but we joke that Finding Waldoo sounds like a Dollar Store knock-off of the real thing. Makes us chuckle every time.

Puppy Slushie- Referring to the ever-popular and timeless Slush Puppy, in our house, the puppy is obviously a part of the slush.  🙂

Pull My Finger- we can thank Dad for this one.  It’s not used in context or for desired effect, but it is pretty funny to hear a 2yo ask his sister to do this.

Quick, Quick, Look Behind You!- There’s nothing behind us.  But we are supposed to move quickly towards whatever the boy thinks is important.

Set the Piggies Free- Taken from SteveSongs on PBS, the kids say this whenever they want their shoes off.  Just so cute to hear from across the house.

Knit Night

I went to my first night out with the Thursday Night Knitwits.  It was such a nice time- just being able to relax, knit, talk, drink coffee, and browse the Barnes and Noble shelves.  I finished off my first Sunday Swing sock, giving me a little more yarn to put towards the boy’s blanket (which won’t be finished by Oct- gotta find him a new birthday idea). Sounds like the group will be trying some dyeing soon, so I’m in for that, and getting out as often as possible!  There was lots of talk about The Knitter’s Edge, which is having a sale I think I’ll have to pop out for.  I’m thinking about making a sweater for Nate on the knitting machine, and a sale will help cover the yarn cost for a man’s sweater!  In any case, it was a fun night- glad to be getting into the local community.  Thanks, ladies!

And More (and more, and more)

I’m just on a roll.  I think some of these beaded items turned out pretty nice.  Some need a little work still, but I think I’m getting better!  I do have some knitting content coming, too, for those who appreciate fiber over glitz.  🙂  Anyway, on with the showing!

Sorry- gotta look sideways on this one- one each of three sets of earrings.  The top matches the necklace I posted yesterday and the bottom one is supposed to match the next necklace.

This one is a fail, I think.  I based it on a necklace I saw on One Pretty Thing, but I really botched it up when I cut the ribbon.  I think the beads are too small, as well. I love the grays, though, so I’ll have to revamp and try again.

Now this is more like it!  I love how this turned out, with the assymetry and the red tones.  I found a bronze chain, too, which I think adds some depth.

These are supposed to match the above necklace- the color in the photo is a bit off.  I tried to add a bit of the silver ribbon to the bracelet- another fail. I think it does still need a third strand of some sort- just not sure what yet.  The earrings are a win in my book!

So that’s it for now!  I have two more sets of beads to try out- I need to do some more looking around for inspiration first.  Hope you’ve enjoyed my foray into beading!

Yep, More!

Here’s the start of my beading frenzy.  Beads bought at Hobby Lobby, strung on crochet thread.  There are earrings to match.

And another

So, we’ve moved, I’ve settled in (mostly) and have gotten a MAJOR crafting bug!  I have lots of little projects in the works, so expect some new pix in the near future.  But I just wanted to let you all know I’m still here and we’re doing OK in our new place and I did finish my flower shirt.  I copied it pretty much exactly from this post at Little Birdie Secrets.  My shirt is from W-Mart, cheap, cheap. But organic (they say).  I had fun making the little flower and beads and will probably make several more!

I’m into the beading thing pretty big time right now.  I found that Hobby Lobby and Michaels both have tremendous beading sections.  Just plop this country girl transplant into a craft store and watch me drool…  I’ve got some great (I hope) ideas to work up.  Such fun and immediate gratification!!
